Is a ganglion cyst of the spine, the same thing as a synovial cyst?

I had a wreck in Feb. My MRI says I have a Tarlov cyst and a slight protruding disc at L4-5. The chiropractor and P.T. called it a Tarlov cyst when they looked at the films. The neurosurgeon said that the cyst is a ganglion cyst, and I've probably had it my whole life. I was in perfect health until the wreck. I'm having pain and burning from my waist all the way down the back of my legs. I have very little reflex in the right leg and foot. I'm having bladder problems, and SI problems on the right side. Sitting and standing still are very painful.I have more pain on the right. The cyst and bulging disc are on the left (side by side).

I really sympathize with you..In my opinion you have a disc problem as your symptoms are typically of it.The discomfort in your lower body is due to your nerves being injured by the slipped disc.Check these web pages:http://www.emedicinehealth.com/ganglion_.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ganglion_cy.Good Luck

A synovial cyst is almost always only found in joints-knees, shoulders, elbows. They are not the same thing.
