irritable bowel syndrome related arthritis?

Answers:
My girlfriend has the symptoms of both IBS and arthritis and found they had a comon cause: hypothyroidism. You might want to have some bloodwork done to see how active your thyroid is. She now takes synthroid and has changed her diet to exclude or limit soy, peanuts, crucifers (broccoli, cabbage) and other foods that can affect thyroid function. In people with a normal thyroid function, these foods don't matter much, but if your thyroid is underactive, they can exacerbate the symptoms.
Hope this helps.
arthritis is a condition in your joints. irritable bowel syndrome has to do with the peristeltic movement in your intestines or maybe an infection of some sort. so dont think it is related..
